Mirth Tech Innovation Summit 2025: A Milestone Event Shaping the Future of Healthcare Interoperability

On November 5th, Bahía Software took part in the Mirth Tech Innovation Summit 2025, hosted by NextGen Healthcare. The event brought together developers, integrators, and technology leaders from around the world, united by a common goal: accelerating interoperability in the healthcare sector.

It was an exceptionally productive day, featuring a format that blended technical sessions, success story presentations, and open discussions with NextGen’s executive team.

The overall atmosphere reflected a strong sense of maturity and sustained growth within the Mirth Connect ecosystem, now deployed in over 20,000 commercial installations and processing billions of clinical messages annually.

A Robust and Forward-Looking Roadmap

One of the Summit’s key takeaways was the clarity of the product roadmap and the commitment to technological innovation.

NextGen unveiled its roadmap leading up to version 4.8 of Mirth Connect, structured around four strategic pillars:

  1. Advanced Security: Multifactor authentication, granular role-based access control, enhanced auditing, and regulatory compliance aligned with GDPR and NIST standards.
  2. Observability and Monitoring: Introduction of the new Mirth Command Center, a web-based console designed to manage entire server fleets, monitor channels, and optimize performance centrally.
  3. Smart Interoperability: Full support for FHIR R5, expanded OAuth2 connectors, and native integration tools for cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  4. Automation and Artificial Intelligence: Launch of Mirth Assist, a suite of AI-powered utilities for code generation, script validation, and automatic error detection.

The message is clear: Mirth Connect is evolving into a more secure, intelligent, and cloud-ready platform.

A Strong Commitment to Europe and Partner Collaboration

During the closing session, NextGen CEO Sri Velamoor emphasized Europe’s strategic importance in the company’s global expansion, and the need for strong local partners to support healthcare organizations in their digital transformation.

Bahía Software played an active role in this conversation, reinforcing its position as a leading European partner in healthcare interoperability.

We were also proud to present one of the selected success stories at the MirthCon Showcase, demonstrating how a standardized corporate architecture can scale across multi-hospital environments and support millions of clinical transactions with high availability.

A Clear Conclusion

The Mirth Tech Innovation Summit left a shared impression: interoperability is no longer a trend—it is a strategic reality that continues to reshape healthcare delivery.

Bahía Software returns with new ideas, strengthened partnerships, and a clear direction, reaffirming our commitment to developing interoperable, secure, and scalable solutions that place technology at the service of professionals and patients alike.
